Merging into the world of Fine Art

Thursday, September 18th, I will speaking to the Louisiana Photographic Society on the subject of Moving into the Fine Art world.
There is definitely more acceptance of photography and alternate processes and there seems to be a merging of processes and styles in all facets of art.
I will discuss the movement and what I think it takes to successfully achieve a presence in the art community.

The Work

This is my most recent artwork created in black and white for its starkness. I have always worked in grids or sections. I seem to see life in this form of structure. It helps me to dissect the subtle nuances of an image and create an understanding of what makes the subject so special. Each image starts as a photograph. The initial image is dissected into varying parts, based on the subject matter. I then attached the pieces of the image back together on varying media. The subtle changes that occur during the process seem to add to the final result.
